Unnamed, Unpaved EP

by Justin Lacy and the Swimming Machine

The Unnamed, Unpaved EP is a collection of Swimming Machine demos recorded during the summer of 2010. They are unmastered, uneven experiments in writing and home recording. Mixing is rough and reverb is heavy, and it will always be this way, as the files for all of these songs are forever lost — "Cellophane" and "In Cold Blood" crashed into oblivion with Adam Powell's hard drive, and the rest slipped off with the crack addict who stole Justin Lacy's laptop.

The Swimming Machine runs on combustion. Fill it with fuel – a blend of upright bass, sax, guitar, banjo, mandolin, violin, xylophone and trumpet. To ignite, whistle, shout, and sing. Oxygen is required. Stomp if it gives you any trouble. To get the pistons turning, stir in some tambourines, buckets, shakers, cymbals, spoons, a tin can and as many floor toms as you can get your hands on. ... more
